e-School comes to Russia!
e-School in Russia

Our staff is back from Russia, capital of the old Soviet Union, with pictures and news! Read on about our new courses as well as the trip to Russia and what it is bringing to the school!

World map of cold war alliances.
Did you know that the British Empire was once the largest empire in the history of the world, covering over 37 million square kilometers (nearly one quarter of the Earth's land surface)?

Find out more about Western culture and the world in CHY4U (World History: The West and the World), our latest course offering at the Ottawa Carleton e-School. This interactive course investigates Western civilization and world history from the 16th Century to the present.

Through a variety of interactive modules and articles, students learn about the interaction between the emerging West and other regions of the world and about the development of modern social, political, and economic systems.

Our two other latest offerings include AMU4M: Grade 12 Music, and ESLAO: Beginning Communication in English - ESL Level 1 - the first of our ESL (English as a Second Language) courses.

e-Schooling the Kremlin
Привет из России!

Our principal, Annette Levesque, and Guidance and Academic Project Manager, Susan Hartwick, have returned from the former Soviet Union where we are expanding Ottawa Carleton e-School's operations over the next year.

According to our intrepid adventurers, they were surprised to see the level of security at Russian high schools which are all equipped with security doors and staffed with security guards at the entrance who check to make sure you are supposed to be allowed into the school. But they were even more pleasantly surprised to discover that Moscow has a proliferation of road-side baked potato vendors peddling their hot potatoes to passers-by much like the North American hot dog vendor.

OCES will be partnering with private High Schools in Russia to offer foreign students the opportunity to acquire Ontario secondary school credits towards their OSSD for entry into North American and European universities. So check out the student e-lounge over the coming months to see if any of your fellow students are from good old Mother Russia!
