Whether reaching ahead or making up for missing
credits, it can be hard to get into the summer
courses you want or need as school boards cancel
courses based on class size and interest. We
understand that this can happen so we offer students
the flexibility to take their summer school course
at home and still enjoy family vacations and days
out with friends.
"I was signed up for the summer Career Studies
course, but the day before it was supposed to start,
the school board called to say it was canceled
because I was one of three students signed up for
it." says
Genevieve, a local High School student.
""They offered me other courses I could take, but
they needed an hour bus ride, and the bus pick-up is
over twenty minutes from my home. Anyways, who
really wants to be stuck in a classroom every day,
for the whole day, all summer when it is so nice
out?""
Genevieve is signing up for courses at Ottawa
Carleton e-School this summer instead. Classes she
will take from the comfort of her own home, and
taken on her schedule. Flexible scheduling for
on-line courses also allows her to take the days off
she needs for her dance performances and for hanging
out with her friends and going camping.
